Baharestan Square, Tehran

Baharestan palace and square are among the oldest structures in Tehran. The founder of the palace was Mirza Hossein Khan Sepahsalar. The statue in the middle of the square is that of Ayatollah Modarres.

To the north of the square was Negarestan Garden of Fat’hali Shah. A number of buildings were constructed later in the area and most of these buildings currently belong to the University of Tehran.

Baharestan is the name given to the historic Iranian parliament building. The old and new parliament buildings are near the square.
